At what production levels does it make sense to move from a manual labeling machine to an automatic machine?

This really depends on the number of people you have working for you and the demands for your product. I have a customer who just purchased a labeling machine and he is selling about 7000 jars a month and growing but he runs the equipment by himself.

I'm not sure it's entirely THE only option out there. I have a number of customers that have spent the money on labor and 5 of our semi automatic machines to put out roughly 5000 containers an hour, as opposed to purchasing a $75k automatic labeling machine.

Either way, we have start up business owner who purchase our BenchMATE manual label machine and when they grow the business WE buy back their BenchMATE for 80% of their purchase price towards a semi automatic model

 The BenchMAX

The BenchMAX includes all options, the Auto Attachment for hands free operation, Small Container Adaptor for containers with diameters from 10mm to 45mm and Orientation for oversticking medals or export labels.

The BenchMAX is unique in that it will label the very tallest of dessert wine bottles from the base to the very top and will also label sizes from 45mm diameter up to a Jeroboam.
I orientate or label wine bottles front and back and pack into boxes at 18 bottles per minute or 1000 per hour. I would not call myself fast. At client time trials they consistently label and pack at 22 â?? 24 bottles per minute or 1300 to 1400 labelled an packed.

The BenchMARK

The BenchMARK can be optioned up to include: the Auto Attachment for hands free operation, Small Container Adaptor for containers with diameters from 18mm to 55mm and Orientation for oversticking medals or export labels.

The BenchMARK will label sizes from 55mm diameter up to 130mm.
I label wine bottles front and back at 16 bottles per minute or 950 per hour. I would not call myself fast.

If the time has come to upgrade to the BenchMAX model, we will offer you a generous trade in on your BenchMARK.

The BenchMATE

With the BenchMATE you should expect to label front and back at 10 - 12 bottles per minute. http://www.greatengineering.com/labeling_tour/broadbandvideosML.asp
Print and apply http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cg-luR2vNM0

When the time comes to upgrade to one of our electric models, we will offer you 80% of your original purchase price as trade in for your BenchMATE.

.
In 1992 I was awarded a patent for the invention of applying self-adhesive labels to cylindrical products. No other labelling company can apply labels as well as ours.

At Great Engineering, we manufacture equipment with the expectation that our customers should be able to label in excess of a million containers every year.
