Can someone tell me more about machines that hot fill little foil packets (think little ketchup packets like at fast food stores). I think someone once referred to this as a fold, fill, and seal machine.

I'm looking for a small, entry-level machine that does hot fill. Any information would be helpful!

There are basically four types of machines: fold machines form the packaging, fill machines fill that packaging up with a set volume of liquid or paste, and seal machines close the package so that it can be distributed. The fourth type of machine is a combination of the three functions, a fold, fill, and seal machine. Since you are interested in hot fill, if you are planning on using pre-made packets, then you may not need to invest in a fold, fill, and seal machine, and may simply invest in a fill machine (to do the hot fill) and a seal machine. Alternatively, you may be able to find an entry-level fill machine with sealing functions, so that you don't have to purchase a standalone sealing machine. Keep in mind that filling machine suppliers often provide tools with the machine that allow you to manually bundle/cap/form/seal, so that's also an option.

In summary, I recommend that you look into a filling machine, and purchase pre-made foil packets. For the sealing function, you can use the sealing tools provided by the filling machine supplier, or you can look to purchase a filling machine with automated sealing functions installed.

Good luck!
