Do I need a beer gun to flush the air out of bottles I'm filling straight from the keg, or is that slightly unnecessary?

Some brewers find beer guns a complete waste of money; others consider them to be very useful and therefore, a great investment. As far as bottling from the keg goes, it depends on the amount of time you're planning on keeping the beer bottled. If it's just a day or two, you shouldn't have to worry too much about oxygenation. If it's more than that, you might want to consider investing in some type of bottle filler - whether it's a beer gun, a counter-pressure filler, a bottling wand, etc. That way, you can fill from the bottom-up while still maintaining control over foaming. More importantly though, you won't have to worry about oxidation or loss of CO2.
