Dear Customer, All filling machines both semi automatic and automatic will give a given quantity of product. Some are more accurate than others, all our fillers as at the top range of accuracy. For some applications like oil (which varies volumes at different temperatures) weight filling is more accurate than volumetric filling. For wine, level filling is preferred. For example to 750 ml mark (on the bottle) Flowmeters are used for pharmaceutical and other delicate products that require high clean area conditions. It depends on the type of filler you are using! Are you using a vacuum or gravity/pressure overflow filler or a volumetric filler? On a vacuum filler or gravity/pressure overflow filler you adjust the fill level to a height in the bottle and the fill levels should look the same, on a volumetric filler you adjust the volume deposited by the filler and the volume will be correct but may look different from bottle to bottle because of variances in the containers.1 comment

Most fillers used for wine fill to a level ( which is adjustable) The number of ml in the bottle relies on the distance from the bottle rim to the liquid surface ( the 'fill level'). That's the simple answer, but there's a lot more: bottles do vary in size a little, and some are more consistent than others. Some are termed 'measuring container' bottles, and guarantee a certain repeatability. Most have a target fill level embossed on the bottle base: typically '750ml @ 65mm ( i.e. fill level of 65mm gives you 750ml in the bottle. You have to make allowance for the temperature too, as liquid expands as it warms, so if you're filling cold, fill to a slightly lower level ( standard is 20 deg. C. in Europe)Add comment
Volumetric fillers (piston) always fill to the exact volume with excellent repeatability. Fill-to-level (or overflow) fillers always fill to the same level on the neck of the bottle regardless of bottle's internal volume. We have both. Send us a message on Kinnek!Add comment
On a volumetric filler, the volume would be gauged. On a level fill, the liquid would go in to a set distance from the top of the bottle no matter what the size/volume of the bottle was - liter, gallon, or 750ml. No matter which style you choose, you should not have to "eye-ball" the level.Add comment
Both semi-automatic and automatic fillers can fill to a level or volume, depending on the filling technology used. In either case, you should not have to visually inspect for fill level control if the filler is doing it's job. Volumetric, or piston fillers will fill an exact volume which will often appear as different fill levels in glass bottles. Pressure overflow fillers will fill to an exact level however the measured volume may be different depending on the accuracy of the bottle volume.Add comment

Our machines set an exact fill point using a sealed system that hydraulically sets the correct fill point in the bottle. Physically the bottle cannot be filled higher than the set fill point as once the liquid reaches the off-gas tube it can go no higher. Fill detection indicating that the liquid in the bottle has reached off-gas tube fill point is done electronically for fast response closing filling valve. We can only speak for our equipment. Yes, you can pre-set both our automatic and semi-automatic fillers so they fill specific levels. You do not indicate in your question if you are filling a carbonated product or a still product. As a carbonated product which would generate foam in filling, and you would need to be aware of this when setting your levels. Filling still product is not as tenuous. Thanks Mark BasselAdd comment
