The answer depends almost entirely on your specific circumstances.  As a general rule, higher end, heavy duty slicers make sense if you have high volume production needs.  Entry level slicers can't be pushed too far beyond their production limits, as the equipment will break or otherwise falter.  Though heavy duty slicers are more expensive initially, the fact that they allow for higher volume production (and more efficient production) means that it may end up saving you money in the long-run.
