Is etching viable for my growlers? I heard that it's expensive.

Whether etching is viable is highly context-dependent, and we cannot answer that without more details. However, it is true that etching is very expensive. On average, the cost to deep etch on growler glass is roughly $2-4 per growler. Most breweries go for imprinting instead, since it is much cheaper (though the downside is that, unlike etching, there is no 'raised glass' texture). Whether etching is a viable option really depends on whether the extra cost is alleviated by higher sales volume or a potentially higher price.

Etching is cost prohibitive for your "everyday" growlers, however, for higher-end gift items, rewards programs, etc, it is a very nice option, especially considering there are no minimum order quantities.
