There is a lot of discussion between Chinese-made and American-made equipment. What about machines and equipment made in Italy or Germany versus ones made in the good ol' US of A?

There is no general blanket theory of quality for European vs. American. It comes down to the specific niche equipment you are looking for. Many European manufacturers specialize in high-end premium lines of specialty equipment that they dedicate their quality and focus on making.Add comment
Within the dairy industry US regulations are often more strict than EU standards. Before you make a big commitment to buy EU equipment for the US market be sure it complies with all pertinent regulations.
The issue with imported vs domestic equipment boils down to technical support, spare parts availability, and compliance with regulatory standards. European/Asian dairy standards may not be as rigorous as US standards. There may be other issues - such as electrical code compliance or pressure containing heat exchangers - that do not comply with local code requirements. Technical support may not be readily available or in your language. Spare parts may have long lead times or use metric sizes not readily available in the US. There may be import duties that are half of the equipment cost. Don't forget about the cost of the foreign currency (exchange rate). There is good American equipment and good European equipment. TCW uses the best of both. We take bare Italian equipment and add electrical that is easy to understand, use and replace- if needed- here in the US. We take Swiss corkers and customize them to work best for the bottle designs and winemaking styles used here. No one country has it all. Use the best from each world.1 comment

I agree with comments of other suppliers below. It is important however to pick a supplier that keeps parts for whoever manufactures the product. Tanks need seals, lids, pumps etc etc. Check supply of those as well as the quality.Add comment

There have been long debates over American vs. European made equipment. However, as long as we talk about auto parts, I just prefer quality and it often provided at https://autopartsfair.com/ . Whatever you buy, it must be of high quality and affordable price.

One issue that needs to be explored is support and technical assistance. You will need to confirm that your request for support will be handled expeditiously and thoroughly. As far as I know, you will be hard pressed to find much made in the USA with the exception of what my company proudly offers from Carlsen & Associates in Healdsburg, California and Custom Metalcraft, Inc. in Springfield Missouri.
Incidentally, nobody has more American made, American built, domestically available, or domestically processed inputs to commercial-scale alcoholic beverage manufacturing for Processing, Production, and Packaging than ENOTOOLS.COM. Nobody. And that is not accidental.

With American designed and manufactured equipment, such as Martin Robotics, you are not only supporting your fellow countrymen, you are keeping your long-term costs in check. Imported replacement parts can have hidden costs far exceeding their high price tag- how long to you have to wait for what you need to get in to the States, & how adversely does that impact your productivity and profitability? Being in Lincoln, Nebraska we are centrally located and easily ship to anywhere in the US. As to quality, I will say you should at least not get substandard materials and construction from European supplies as you frequently see from Asian supplier. However, a high priced price tag does not automatically mean you are looking at the best production. Innovation is part of the American Spirit for those of us in business for ourselves. Do not discount a lesser priced American model simply because of a misplaced high quality perception for its Euro counterpart, for you could miss out on a great opportunity.Add comment
Lets get down to the brass here: Any machine can be made or duplicated anywhere. what is important is : Quality of Design, Components, metallurgy, Electrics and most importantly support. You could have the best design machinery in the world, but if you can't get support or parts you have nothing. We caution our customers to look into the supplier or call on us as we have seen most of the mistakes pop up on the surplus market. Bottom line - Get a good reference and you can BUY RIGHT! We supply local service and support is supplied in both cases and we design the equipment from Italy to have US commercial components readily available. Both the U.S. and Europe have excellent suppliers of equipment. As well they also have poor suppliers. Its a mix bag of suppliers. Take Pete's advice and make sure you check into the specific supplier and the manufacturer so you know where and who its coming from.Add comment
I use great suppliers in both the US and Europe - mainly Italy, but have also come across really poor manufacturers in both, and we're talking about equipment quality, and service. You simply can't generalise about a country or its people! Check out your supplier thoroughly first: you soon get a feel how professional and trustworthy they are.Add comment
