To be honest, I do not know how frequently copper stills require repair. But I can say that they do require repair every few years due to natural corrosion, that is pretty unavoidable.

With the proper cleaning and maintenance your Still should remain in service a very long time (20-50 years or more). If your still is steam fired, you can extend the life of the still by making sure your boiler has the proper treatment system for your area and that twice a year or so flush the system with a manufactures recommended procedure. If your still is direct fired you can extend the life of your still by making sure you never ever run the still low on liquid thereby overheating the metal, which will result in stress cracks, secondly, keep the burner chamber clean from soot, and the bottom of the still reasonably clean.
Following a few specific cleaning and maintenance schedules will insure a long trouble free operation.

It depends on how much you use the still but generally major maintenance and repairs are common every 4-5 years if distilling on a regular basis.
