Generally, the oak cask loses its flavor infusing ability after four to five uses.  As such, you'll likely want to move on to a new barrel after five uses, maximum.  Fortunately, because the used casks are in demand by liquor producers, there is a thriving resale market (which helps to defray the cost of purchasing a new oak cask).
