How should I store my malt as a small craft brewery?

If you need to store your malt, you should store it in a clean, dry silo. Moisture should be kept at a minimum, as the low moisture content of malts is what prevents the buildup of mold (and helps minimize engagement with insects). If you do use a silo, however, be sure to empty out the silo a few times over the course of a year. When you empty the silo regularly, it minimizes chaff buildup (which also helps make the silo less attractive to insects that eat dust debris). You should also inspect the inside and outside of the silo for cracks and other structural issues.
