I'd like to make pumpkin ale - any recipe suggestions?

Since pumpkin spice lattes are so popular nowadays, I'm thinking about jumping on the bandwagon. Should I put actual pumpkin into the mash or use some combination of autumn spices?

There seem to be as many recipes out there that call for using actual pumpkin in the mash as there are recipes that say to keep it out. In both types, different combinations of pumpkin extract, nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon, and other spices create or enhance this distinctive autumn flavor. If you do include pumpkins in the mash, it is important to ensure that they are finely broken down and large pieces are removed, as this will allow for maximum flavor absorption and ensure that there are not any temperature variations.

As with any type of novelty recipe, half the fun is in experimenting and playing around with your formula. Post your results here!
