If I want to avoid skunk beer, will green bottles do the trick?

Sunlight "energy" causes skunking of the beer. True but the real culprit is the overall emery of breaking down the iso-Alphas released by the hops in your brew. This creates a new compound releasing sulfur.  so remember that not only is it the light but also the energy (heat, etc.) that can cause the skunking.  It happens in cans too.  So if you like clear bottles try and protect them with packaging

As a general rule of thumb, amber bottles are best at blocking harmful UV light that causes 'skunkiness'.  Green bottles are not as effective as amber bottles, but are, at the very least, better than clear bottles.
