Optimal caustic performance is typically around 55-60?, so if possible, heat your caustic solution above this temperature. Never use chlorinated caustic at temperatures higher than 65? and always check with your chemical manufacturer to ensure you're using the correct temperatures during this process. Be sure to thoroughly rinse all chlorinated substances from the CIP system before using an acid, and if you choose to add a heating element, be sure to avoid copper and only use ones that are either stainless-clad or have nickel-alloy element(s).
