I've heard horror stories about buying glass packaging from China. I want to know if it is safe.

Like any manufacturer, they must be a trustworthy source. If you are bottling within the guidelines and specs on the technical drawings, you should not have issues. Pay special attention to the pressure tolerance noted on the drawing.Add comment
We have a customer who has been buying a lot of Chinese glass, and is currently searching for a domestic source. Their problems have primarily been with reliable lead times, mold fatigue, and responsiveness. These are custom bottles. Generally speaking with commodity items like standard long neck beer bottles, domestic producers are competitively priced. At least that's been our experience.Add comment
I know a great deal of companies have a concern but I can tell you over the past three years I have invested heavily in developing quality centric bottle plants in china. It has taken quite a bit of interest and review but the plants I have interest in are ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 certified. I have three tiers of independent testing and review companies to assure that no bottles get packaged without meeting that approvl. Also bottles in the USA must meet or exceed FDA, TPCH and EPA3045 regulations. All mine are certified. not many manufacturers can boast this but I can. If you buy from a distributor you are gambling. Be sure to check with us (a manufacturer) that is where the responsiblity lies.Add comment
We do not get any bottles in China, but I can give you my two cents We have a washing bottle division to our company (unique in North America) We have over 80 people working in this division 7 days a week (multimillion $$ set-up) We are currently washing bottles out of china for most of our competitors (new imported bottles) In other words, some of these bottles are imported already dirty from China!! (bloomed bottles, powder, dust) I am also told the average percentage lost in a sea container can get up to 10% (broken bottles, offset bottles, wrong colors, offset closures¦) China is not perfect. - PascalAdd comment
