You may not actually want to avoid competition! Food trucks sometimes benefit from being in the vicinity of other food trucks, especially those with a complementary offering. For example, if you offer spicy entrees, perhaps you would benefit from setting up near an ice cream/cold desserts truck. In fact, even setting up near competing food trucks may be a good thing if you're just starting out. Customers of other food trucks will notice your new truck and may take a break from their 'usual spot' to try out yours. You'll essentially be generating customer traffic for free!
