Is microfiber worth it for replacing our cotton fiber mops?

This really depends on two things: 1) your budget; and 2) how delicate the surfaces are that you expect to use the mop on. Microfiber products tend to be quite a bit more expensive than cotton fiber, so your budgetary constraints may initially limit your ability to replace all your current cotton fiber mops. If you do have the budget, however, then the other consideration that you must take into account is surface material. If your cleaning surfaces are delicate and scratch easily, then you may want to avoid microfiber, since it has a somewhat harsher texture and can scratch up delicate surfaces. Otherwise, yes, microfiber lasts longer, cleans more effectively, and can be laundered easily -- it is generally a good investment if you have the budget and the surfaces necessary to accommodate it.
