There are many, many ways to improve your kitchen to make it more allergy friendly, but one of the simplest ways to improve is to have separate and designated equipment (color coding, physically separating, etc.). Having certain equipment only be used for a common allergen (such as wheat, peanuts, or shellfish) may be a bit more expensive, but can help keep ingredients divided in the kitchen, allowing allergy-sufferers more extensive options.
