Palletizers are high-cost, but the benefits are substantial. Palletizers make the transfer process more efficient, safer, and protect the integrity of the product better than the manual alternative.

Because of the high cost, however, it generally begins to make financial sense to invest in a palletizer when your production throughput is higher than the pallet transfer process throughput. If the pallet transfer process is constraining your total throughput, if you expect production to increase further, and if hiring more manual workers is not sensible, then it may make sense to invest in a palletizer. A well-designed palletizer can palletize up to 70+ cases per minute (1-2 pallets), so your production should be very high to justify the investment.

This information is incorrect. While high capacity palletizers are over $100k, there are solutions as low as $50k that may work for some products.

I would disagree with the Knowledge Team's statement that palletizers are a high cost item. We have some units that start as low as $50k. Palletizers become cost effective at 10-15 cases per minute or if you have heavy boxes. Rate is not the only consideration as you also have to take in to account the risk of injury from repetitive lifting. Please feel free to contact me at [email address] and I can help you better understand palletizers.
