Kinnek is free for small businesses like you because we charge suppliers to be members of Kinnek’s supplier network and for access to optional premium features and tools. Since many of our suppliers take advantage of these premium features, we are able to offer our services to buyers at no cost.

A request is the Kinnek term for an RFQ (request-for-quote). When you are looking to make a purchase, you can create a request on Kinnek with as much detail as possible about the product. Relevant suppliers will then review your request and submit customized quotes for you. A request is not an obligation to purchase; it is a mechanism for requesting and receiving quotes.

No, there is absolutely no obligation to purchase. Kinnek’s quotes system is meant to be a tool for those seriously looking to make purchases, but buyers on Kinnek are never locked into any deal simply by receiving quotes or sending messages to suppliers through Kinnek.

Absolutely. Many businesses use Kinnek not only as a tool to get quotes, but also as a comprehensive tool to research products they are not familiar with. 

Here are some of the ways Kinnek can help:

  • Browse through Kinnek's industry directories, where you’ll find comprehensive information on suppliers, products, and knowledge for your business. 
  • Use Kinnek’s Supplier Profiles to help you make a more informed purchase decision. Find exclusive reviews, ratings, data, and product galleries from the top suppliers in your industry.
  • Learn from experts (including suppliers and fellow business owners) in your industry on Kinnek’s Community Q&A, a question and answer forum for those hard-to-find insights.

Yes, you should still use Kinnek! While Kinnek can help you discover new suppliers, we can also get you quotes from suppliers that you already know and have strong relationships with. 

Kinnek makes it simple to manage all your purchasing – even if you already have a supplier's phone number in your rolodex, it’s far less cumbersome to have them upload their quote to your Kinnek account. That way, you can easily access any quote for any purchase in one place. Don’t worry about trying to stay organized with emails, phone calls, quotes, documents, invoices, messages – let us do the work for you! 

If you already have a quote from a supplier before you came to Kinnek, chances are, that supplier is already in our network! Just let us know and we'll ask them to upload it to your Kinnek account. Or, forward it to and we'll automatically upload it for you.

We are constantly looking to expand our supplier base on Kinnek in order to better serve your needs. If there is a supplier that you normally work with but do not see on Kinnek, please email us at, and we'll get them on Kinnek as soon as we can.  In the meantime, feel free to forward the quote you got from them (whether it's an email, PDF, Word Document, anything) to  We'll automatically upload the quote to your Kinnek account so you can stay organized and easily compare it with your other Kinnek quotes, even if the supplier isn't on Kinnek at the moment.

To encourage suppliers to respond to your request, make sure that you have provided as many details as possible with your request. If you want to add more details to your request, you can click on 'Details' in the 'Requests' section and then edit the details appropriately. Also, make sure you have answered all questions that suppliers have asked you. We also encourage you to send messages directly to a few suppliers and ask them to submit quotes to you. You can find a list of relevant suppliers for each of your requests in the 'Requests' section.

There are a few things you can do to move forward in the purchase process. First, click on the Start Purchase Order button next to the desired quote in the Requests section. This will notify that supplier of your interest in moving forward, and they will get in touch with you. You can also call the supplier directly regarding your quote- a supplier's phone number can be found in their profile. Click the 'View Profile' button next to a quote in the 'Requests' section to view the profile of that supplier.

In order to provide accurate quotes, suppliers need to understand what your needs are. Try to provide as much detail as possible with your request and promptly answer questions asked by suppliers. It may also help to attach an image of the product you are looking to get quotes for to the request.

Yes, it is possible to have a dual-account on Kinnek (being a buyer and supplier).  If you are interested, please send an email to with your Kinnek username and we will enable your account for this.

If you have purchased something via Kinnek, click on the “I’ve Already Bought This” button in the ‘Requests’ section of the website.

If you are no longer buying a particular product, click on the “I’m no longer buying this” button in that same section.
